I joined the Business School at Loughborough University at the end of 2006 as a Professor of Information Systems in the Management Science and Information Systems (MSIS) research group following 23 years at UMIST where I held the Chair of Information Systems Engineering before its merger with The University of Manchester and where I served as Head of Department for the years 1992-1994 and 1999-2001. I begun my professional career in industry working in the City, one of the world’s major financial centres, developing some of the earliest on-line real-time brokering IT systems.

Loughborough is a research-led university and has been confirmed as one of the country’s top 20 universities by the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). In the Business School 60% of its research was rated as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.

The MSIS research group, one of 5 in the Business School, focuses on developing and exploiting modelling and analysis techniques for effective management decision making in a complex and dynamic world.
