Primary aim of research- to develop and exploit automated methods of digital photogrammetry and geomatics, with particular application to the geo and physical sciences.

 
International impact/roles:
Established and Chaired Working Group Chair, (V/6- "Close range morphological measurement for the earth sciences" of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS)- 2008-12. Now Vice-Chair/Secretary of ISPRS V5- "Spatial measurement for the bio and geosciences- 2012-2016. Representative for the UK-ISPRS Committee.
 Member of the International Editorial Board for the Photogrammetric Record, the leading International Journal in photogrammetry (Impact Factor: 0.927) and formerly Vice-Chair of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society;
Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)- Geomatics Faculty
