Project Fallot is a new collaboration between Systems Engineers at Loughborough University, within the Systems Modelling and Simulation Group, and Medical experts from the University of Rennes 1. We aim to employ Multsicale Modeling to understand the development of the human heart, and thus increase understanding of the mechanisms of Congenital Heart Defects, particularily Tetralogy of Fallot. This is a complex disease, defined by four defects: overriding aorta (displaced to the left), pulmonary stenosis, ventricular septal defect and right ventricle hypertrophy. . This site includes an educational journey through the proceseses of Heart Development, using animations and interactive 3D Objects; results from the 3D Reconstruction of embryonic hearts using MRI data, and an exploration of Multiscale Modelling techniques applicable to heart morphogenesis.
